2001 Season - Week 18
Wildcard ResultsWith 5 owners missing the Wildcards only 3 matches were played so a few friendlies were hastily arranged. John nearly pulled off the biggest shock with the 16th seed leading the newly crowned champion into the 4th quarter, only for Marcus to pass him when Terry Allen scored for Baltimore. After selecting similar teams and both having to change a player Fox prevailed over the BBC (Daz it wouldn't have mattered if you'd had your first team out there, Rice outscored Wheatley and Mare was lucky to get one Field Goal opportunity for Miami). In the final game Cheryl outlasted Johnny after his final player Chris Chambers failed to play for his beloved fish - much like the rest of the offense who were actually on the field. In the friendlies Gareth exacted revenge on his son's by beating his younger one and Mark beat H while Dave Stamp's team outscored both Aaron and H. Tempting Divisional TiesThe winners of the 3 wildcards together with the 5 owners who got bye's has produced some mouth-watering match-ups for the next round. Firstly H will play Dave Stamp in a game of two who received byes. Stampy has often blamed H for hosting play-off games which Dave attends only to see his mighty fish crash out. It's happened the last three years and though he missed the latest Fish play-off exit (watched at HQ) Stampy gets a chance of revenge. Both the rookies are through and judging by his earlier e-mail Wayne has really got his dander up. He'll be even more pumped to know that he'll play his old NFL Europe buddy Mark - the rants that could fly from this could surpass Mr Stamps annual output. Then it's a CooperBowl doubleheader which could have BUMS HQ ripped apart. With first having disposed of worst, Marcus now plays the next one up which is Aaron. Finally in a repeat of BumsBowl V Cheryl plays Chief and after Chief embarrassed her by winning 25-1 last year in the most lopsided final so far, most of the support will be going to the purveyor of fine fayre that is Mrs Cooper.
